Ryerson researcher successful in CFI competitions

Gideon Wolfaardt

Ryerson researcher Gideon Wolfaardt an associate professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biology and a graduate faculty member in the Molecular Science Program was awarded a Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI): Leaders Opportunity Fund (LOF) award for a new scanning confocal laser microscope (SCLM) to augment Ryerson University’s highly successful and heavily-utilised CFI funded Advanced Microscopy and Image Analysis Facility. Dr. Wolfaardt and his colleagues will use the equipment to advance their ability to control microbial behaviour in engineered and natural bioprocesses in highly relevant areas such as the utilisation of renewable biomass, biodegradation and the environmental behaviour of pathogens.
